Speculantha ventricosa
is a new species formally described in 2008 named by David L. Jones,
then Chief Plant Scientist (now retired) at the Centre for Plant
Biodiversity and Research at the National Herbarium. It is a division
of the CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research
Organisation). Speculantha
is one of the now 17 different genera, which were originally Pterostylis. Some
of the Herbaria and scientists in Australia do not recognise the newly
named genera, either Australian or exotic.
